Draupnir – Hopes like Droplets of Rainwater
Owner: Odin; Lilith; Lilith TakaKo (current)
Type: Support
One of the three treasures crafted by the Sons of Ivaldi, Draupnir is a golden ring clad in sun-like radiance. While the original ring from the legend had the ability to multiply itself, the effect of this Instrumental Weapon is fairly different, as it was enriched by Draupnir’s status as a grave good placed by Odin on the funeral pyre of his son Baldr, and given new meaning by the mourning god’s grief and impossible wishes.
If an Incarnated Supernal is wearing the ring at the moment of his death, the body it inhabits combusts into obviously unnatural golden flames that are only mildly warm to the touch. Regardless, the fire consumes the dead body before the ring’s power builds an entirely new body for the Supernal to inhabit, completely identical to his lost vessel. Basically, this is a means to extend the duration of an Incarnation and a defense against other Supernals aiming to take the wearer’s powers. The “resurrection” lasts no longer than a minute. While the process can be disrupted before it is finished, not many Supernals have the skill to accomplish such a thing.
The ring’s effect only works once on any one Supernal.
