The intimidating iron gauntlets of Thor are supporting Instruments necessary for wielding the great hammer Mjolnir. As per the legend, the handle of the hammer is too short, making it extremely difficult for anybody to properly use the huge and heavy weapon. In Supernal terms, Mjolnir demands Offense and Stamina of at least A-rank to be wielded (or thrown). The gloves simply allow the person wearing them to ignore this rule. Even an ordinary human could wield the hammer of the thunder god while wearing these gauntlets.

 

Note that Haniel only carries a copy of the original possessed by Thor and currently by Hel.
